To welcome the 2008 Beijing Olympics, new tourist attractions are now opened. Some include Yuanmingyuan (圓明園), The Prince Gong's Mansion (恭王府), and Qianmen Street (前門大街).

Yuanmingyuan (圓明園)
Yuanmingyuan is an extensive collection of gardens and architectures, where emperors of the Qing Dynasty resided and handled the government affairs. However, it was unfortunately damaged at invasion of the British and French troops in 1860. Due to the damage, most parts of Yuanmingyuan had not been open to the public ever since its construction. A major section of Yuanmingyuan has recently been newly renovated and now opens to the public. This major garden, the Jiuzhou scenery region, contains the essence of Yuanmingyuan’s architecture and art. It covers 400,000 square meters and consists of 14 scenic views.

The Prince Gong's Mansion (恭王府)
Located in central Beijing, the Prince Gong's Mansion is a very luxurious residence used to belong to the richest Qing Dynasty official, He Shen. However, up to August 20, 2008, only the garden has opened to the public and not the mansion itself. In order to open the building for the public, the Chinese government has spent 200 million yuan (US$29.2 million) for renovation over 2.5 years. It will be the first time that the luxurious buildings will open to the public since their completion in 1777. The renovation kept the original interior and exterior styles. Visitors should observe the extremely careful and luxurious design of the architecture and furniture.

Qianmen Street (前門大街)
Qianmen Street has been under a massive refurbishment lasting over one year. Here at the heart of the Chinese capital, this busy street has finally reopened to visitors on August 7, 2008, as an attraction with a new look. The refurbishment has restored the traditional Chinese atmosphere back into the street.
